Picture and Audio Round Ideas

Not every round has to be spoken. A visual or audio round keeps the energy up.

  • Album cover round: show covers and ask for the artist. Our guess the album cover quiz does this for you.
  • Intro round: play the first second of a song and ask for the title. Use the name that tune game.
  • Artist round: play a chorus and ask who is singing, like in guess the artist.
  • Year round: play a clip and ask for the release year. Song trivia has these built in.

Tips for Writing Your Own Music Trivia

  • One fact per question. Avoid questions with two possible answers.
  • Check years twice. Singles, albums and remasters can have different dates.
  • Mix eras. Include at least one question from each decade so everyone gets a turn to shine.
  • Avoid trick wording. The fun is in remembering, not in decoding the question.
  • End on a fun one. Finish with an easy question everyone can shout.

Scoring Ideas for Quiz Night

  • One point per correct answer.
  • Two points for hard round answers.
  • A bonus point for the exact year.
  • Double points on a joker round each team chooses in advance.
